Nurses: How to Spend Four Days In Bermuda

four days in bermuda

Nurses, we have four days off every week. God I love working three twelves. Recently, I knew I needed some sort of reset. I needed to recharge. So I spent four days in Bermuda πŸ™‚

What Do Four Days In Bermuda Look Like?

I’m going to tell you how I spent one of a four-day stretches off on the beautiful island of Bermuda. Warm sunshine, clear waters (midnight skinny dipping??), and fresh seafood were exactly what I needed to leave me feeling refreshed and ready to tackle my next three shifts at the hospital.

Let me show you some of the highlights of my trip to inspire you to travel to the beautiful island between your shifts as well.

Day 1: Layover in NYC, Waterfront Dinner, and Party Boat!

On the day I flew out from LAX, I had a few hours in NYC to kill. I watched the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean, then took a ferry to Manhattan. I walked around for a bit, sipped some chamomile tea, and then took the subway back to the airport.

Bermuda is just a couple-hour flight from NYC and I landed early afternoon.

For dinner, I joined my aunt Rachel for a lovely dinner overlooking the water for sunset.

The seafood was so sooo tasty and I still think about the shishito peppers on a regular basis.

After the best welcome dinner, we headed to the docks for an evening cruise! Several rounds of drinks later, we had also made it to the local pub and then later took a dip into the bioluminescent bay for a midnight swimming sesh (clothing optional, oops).

Day 2: Beach Hopping and Lighthouse!

Omg Bermuda has some of the most gorgeous beaches. What is special about these beaches is the pink sand! Even more special was seeing all the fish while snorkeling.

We spent the day hopping between swimming holes and also checked out the lighthouse overlooking the island. For reference, the beaches included Horseshoe Beach, Warwick Long Bay, and Jobson’s Cove.

Day 3: Swimming in Blue Hole and Cathedral Cave + St. George’s

Another sunny day called for some more swimming!

Blue hole was a beautifully blue swimming and snorkeling area. There were a couple of ledges to jump off of into the shimmering water; it was so heavenly.

Cathedral Cave is a stunning cave near Grotto Bay. The fresh saltwater is so chilled. We took a dip and it felt so refreshing and rejuvenating.

After swimming, we headed to the historical St. George. Here we did a bit of shopping where I found a beautiful, delicate bracelet made locally with pink sand from the beaches.

I also tried out the traditional Bermudian fish chowder with dark rum poured in. It was so so delicious.

Next we went to a popular, iconic pub for Swizzle! Here, my aunt and I drank a full pitcher of Swizzle and got a bit tipsy before heading to the airport where I missed my flight. Oops! Which leads me to…

Day 4: Aquarium and Flight Back

I was not upset about missing my flight.

In the morning, I got to see my aunt at work preparing for a catered boat party! She runs a catering business called Two Fish In a Barrel and she made the most scrumptious looking taco bar spread.

Afterwards, I was able to spend that extra day with my cousin at the aquarium. We saw fishes, sharks, turtles, parrots, lemurs, flamingos, sea turtles, and so many other cute little creatures.

This day I did not miss my flight, and made it back to LAX safe and sound.

Were the Four Days In Bermuda Enough?

To see the whole island, absolutely not. To spend time with my family, also no. However, the four days were the perfect amount of like to rest and enjoy the paradise before heading back to work.

As nurses, we get four days off every single week. I highly, highly recommend spendings one of those four-day stretches in Bermuda.

You will not regret it πŸ™‚
